We get it! Buying art online can be hard. With so many different materials, sizes, frame finishes, etc., the entire process can be overwhelming. Today's blog post is all about making the selection process a bit easier! :)
We're focusing on one of the most asked questions we receive: What is the difference between Stretched, Mounted, and Float Frame canvas?
Chestnut in our 40 x 40 Black Float Frame
Let's start with the canvas itself. Our canvas prints are printed on a heavyweight canvas using wide-format inkjet printers. Known as giclee, this printing process is far superior to other forms of printing such as digital printing. The canvas is designed to create maximum color accuracy and eliminate glare caused by natural light.
Now, let's talk about the 3 types of canvas art we offer: Stretched, Mounted, and Float Frame canvas.
Stretched Canvas - The canvas is professionally stretched over a 1 1/2”, high quality, kiln-dried poplar wood stretcher bar. With its mirrored edges, the stretched canvas is the perfect frameless look that comes ready to hang.
Mounted Canvas – Similar to our framed paper prints, the mounted canvas is attached to a 1/8” medium density fiberboard (MDF) substrate and secured in our sleek, modern frames available in four unique finishes (white, black, natural, espresso). The mounted canvas features a glassless front for the perfect, glare-free, matte look. Note: Our Mounted Canvas and Framed Paper prints use the same frame.
Float Frame Canvas – Our stretched canvas is inserted into a sleek float frame with a 1/8” reveal between the canvas edge and the frame. This premium product is sure to make a statement in any room. The float frame features a glassless front for the perfect, glare-free, matte look.
We offer hand-crafted wood mounted frames and float frames in Gold, Black, White, Natural, and Espresso tones (select mounted canvas art is available in our Classic Gold frame). All canvas art includes:
I hope this helps as your select new canvas art for your space!

Art isn't just a visual treat; it's a reflection of your personality and a critical element in transforming a house into a home. Selecting the right pieces can be a delightful journey of self-expression and interior beautification. Here are some top tips to help you choose the perfect art for your home.
1. Let Your Personal Style Show:
Your home should be a reflection of who you are. Whether you're drawn to vintage landscapes, abstracts, or anything in-between, choose pieces that resonate with your personal taste. Your art should tell a story about you and create an atmosphere that you enjoy.
2. Consider the Room's Purpose:
Different rooms inspire different moods. A calming seascape might be perfect for a bedroom, encouraging relaxation. Or, set the tone of the space with a bold abstract piece. Think about the ambiance you want to create in each space.
3. Play with Colors:
Art can either complement or boldly contrast the existing color scheme of a room. A piece with colors that coordinate with your pillows or curtains can unify a room, while art with contrasting colors can become a stunning focal point.
4. Size and Scale Matter:
Proportion is key. A large, bold piece can be a statement in a spacious room, while smaller works are perfect for more intimate spaces. Consider the wall size and room scale when selecting art. Our Oversized category features art up to 40" x 60" - click here to see all art available in our Oversized category.
5. Mix and Match Different Mediums:
When choosing art for your space, be sure to consider and mix in other mediums throughout your space for a dynamic and textured look. Examples of other mediums include: foliage, wood accent pieces, pottery, etc.
Choosing art for your home is a personal journey that should be enjoyed. Remember, there are no hard and fast rules – it's all about what appeals to your eye and makes your space feel like your own.

As with all of our collections, this one has a little something for everyone. The Botanical Sketch collection contains four coordinating prints that work beautifully together or can be styled on their own as seen above. They’d also look lovely alongside a landscape print.
Along the River is the perfect addition to the bedroom – it’s so incredibly peaceful!
The Spring Collection includes some gorgeous vintage-looking pieces (Citrus Still Life and Country Sky) to add a bit of mood to your space. If you’re looking for something a bit more neutral, Hilltop Trees or Layered Abstract may be the perfect addition!
If you’re seeking the perfect pop of color – Poppies perfectly balances bringing life to your space without being over the top.

A gallery wall is a great way to bring life to an otherwise blank space. We’ve seen gallery walls in dining rooms, hallways, and even surrounding tvs. Whether you’re looking for three prints or nine, a gallery wall may be just what you need!
All that said, designing a gallery wall can be rather intimidating. Here are a few tips that may help you when you’re putting together a gallery wall for your space:
Tape it up or lay it out! – We recommend cutting paper to the size of your desired frames and laying the cutouts on the floor, or better yet, taping them on the wall where you’ll place the gallery. If you’re taping it up, you can simply tape out the frame borders on the wall, but it’s easier to move things around if you’ve cut paper to the size of your frames. This way, you can move cutouts around and resize them as much as needed without nailing holes in your wall or realizing you ordered the wrong size.
Space frames approximately 2-3 inches apart. – While there are exceptions, generally frames look best if they are spaced about 2-3 inches apart. Be sure to factor in this spacing when making your measurements.
Start with your largest piece and design around it. – Find your largest piece (or two!) and place it first as it will create the focal point for the wall.
Select a midline at eye level. – Try to keep the middle of your gallery at eye level. The general rule is 57 inches, but ‘eye level’ will definitely vary depending on the heights of people in your home – and it’s ok to design a space that makes sense to those who will see it most!
Use different frame tones. – If you’re designing a symmetrical or gridded gallery, you may want to stick with the same frame tone. But if you’re designing a gallery wall with offset frames, consider adding a frame or two in a different tone for added dimension.
Consider using frames with mats and frames without mats. – If you’re open to a more eclectic look, consider adding a frame or two without a mat amongst a grouping of frames with mats.
Consider throwing in a few vintage pieces or pieces that have personal meaning to you! – While we think a gallery full of Collection Prints is absolutely gorgeous, a gallery wall can also have gathered pieces that hold meaning to you. Whether it’s a piece from your grandma’s house, a framed postcard from your favorite vacation or even a photo of your family, pieces that mean a lot to you can add a bit of character and bring a smile to your face.
We pulled together some favorites out of the galleries we’ve put together for you over the last few months. We’d love to know which one you’re most drawn to!

]]>LARGE SINGLE PRINT
We’ve all seen Katie’s gorgeous living room and how she has displayed a large piece of art above her couch. A large piece centered above a couch is a popular way to showcase art and bring life to an otherwise blank wall. Back Bay is featured in this photo.
@alyssa.lynne.kirk placed Homestead above her couch and highlighted it with an art light.
Meadow I looks stunning above this couch as styled by @Simplystyled_interiors.
Hazy Lakefront is the perfect addition to Katie’s space. This is our natural frame in 40x30 with a mat.
Winter in the Woods looks so inviting in @thecottageonthehill’s space.
We’ve seen some beautiful examples of art placement above sectionals.
@theshannoncrider placed Low Tide on a large wall above one arm of her sectional. Low Tide is stunning as always in this cozy space. The art is centered by the wall molding which frames the couch.
If your couch sits in front of a window and you only have a small wall, you can still find ways to add a piece of art. @livingwithamanda took advantage of a small corner wall and added White Birch. If you don’t have room for a large print, a smaller print can still add quite a lot! As Amanda showed, a smaller print hung farther from the couch can balance the space well.
MULTIPLE PRINTS
If you have an oversized couch, consider multiple prints! This large wall appears full and balanced with two large prints. Meadow I and Meadow II are a great addition, adding texture and color without overwhelming the space.
The Dried Floral series adds height behind @cozy.casita.blanca’s modern space. Dried Floral III and Dried Floral I are shown here.
GALLERY WALL OR PHOTO LEDGE
Another option is to place a gallery wall or photo ledge behind a couch. This option allows for a number of smaller prints rather than one or two large prints.
Katie added a photo ledge to her sister’s living room. It turned out beautifully! This is a great option for those who like to switch out art seasonally.
Here a few general tips when placing art above your couch:

Leaning a small print against another piece, such as a mirror, is a great way to add art to your console table. This style works well if you’d like to switch out your art seasonally or even swap frames from around your house periodically. This also works well if you are renting and don’t want to put a lot of holes in your walls.
We love what @brookemoraleshome has created on this stunning table. Countryside casually leans against the black rimmed mirror. The gold frame really makes it pop! We love the ottomans under the table – they look great and can easily be pulled out for extra seating in a pinch.
@brookemoraleshome
This entryway from @lifeoncedarlane is so peaceful and airy! Sunrise by the Sea II fits that mood so well. The white frame stacked on the white books allows the print to shine while adding height.
@lifeoncedarlane
Sand works so well with the rich tones in @our.dwelling.place’s table and the deep greens in the olive branches.
@our.dwelling.place
Along with Collection Prints, all three of the featured tables include greenery, a table lamp and a mirror hung on the wall. A winning combination!
Would you like to incorporate art, but prefer a larger piece? We’ve seen larger pieces styled beautifully above a console table or sideboard. Large format prints are a nice way to balance a larger piece of furniture. And you still have the option to lean your frame or hang it.
We love @urbinahome’s neutral style. Snowfall on the Farm framed in black contrasts so well with her sideboard and ties with the black light fixture perfectly. What a great way to display a seasonal piece of art – no nails necessary!
@urbinahome
Hazy Lakefront is such a versatile piece – it has just enough color and texture to add some dimension without overpowering any space. @simplysingharath’s buffet provides the perfect place to display a large print.
@simplysingharath
Horizon is another great option for a similar look!
Low Tide pairs so well with natural wood tones. @graceoaksdesigns’ use of a white mat and a white frame allows the print to draw you in!
@graceoaksdesigns
Rocky Marsh would also look great in this space!
We love this photo by @linseywoods.home. Linsey layered Low Tide and Pasture perfectly. What a great way to use a few smaller prints to create a large impact. The use of oversized mats allows you to layer without losing the image. Stunning!
@linseywoods.home
Do you have Collection Prints on your console table or sideboard? We’d love to see it! Use hashtag #mycollectionprint on Instagram to be featured.
]]>While you may not have a large wall to place art in your kitchen, there’s definitely room for a small print leaning against a wall. An 8x10 print is the perfect size to sit on a counter under upper kitchen cabinets.
Countryside looks absolutely stunning on @brookemoraleshome’s kitchen counter. A landscape print in a neutral kitchen is a beautiful way to bring in a touch of color.
We think Autumn Riverside or Country Barn would also be gorgeous.
Have a bold kitchen? Putty or Reflection may be good neutral options.
@ourkrooknook
@ourkrooknook used Snowfall on the Farm on the counter. This is a subtle way to bring in seasonal décor – and we’re a fan!
Blossom or Citrus II would be fun additions for spring!
@halfway_wholeistic
Katie placed Low Tide on a stand on her kitchen counter. With the neutral frame and white mat, Low Tide is a subtle placement, but brings a sense of calm to the space.
Open shelving is practically begging for lovely art pieces. Lower shelves are the perfect spot for smaller pieces, while top shelves may be able to balance a larger print.
@sittingprettyhomedecor
Mountain Landscape I looks just perfect in @sittingprettyhomedecor’s kitchen. These open shelves are the perfect place for a few art pieces mixed with beautiful décor pieces and practical kitchenware.
@halfway_wholeistic
Katie placed Eucalyptus II on her open shelving. Our 5x7 prints are the perfect size for lower shelves!
@ourhomeharmony
@ourhomeharmony used Still Life from the latest collection on these beautifully styled shelves.
Vibrant Oak or Seaside Grassland would also be great choices!
How have you styled Collection Prints in your kitchen? Use hashtag #mycollectionprint on Instagram to be featured.
We loved seeing Collection Prints included in your beautiful holiday mantels! Our digital prints give you the ability to dress up the art on your mantel for the holidays at a fraction of the price of a large piece of art.
We love how Snowfall on the Farm looks on @making_highview_home’s FrameTV. We wish we could open a good book and hang out next to that fire all day! Even if it’s not snowing outside, Snowfall on the Farm makes it feel like it is.
@salthouse.studio
@salthouse.studio perfectly paired greenery with the green tones in Winter in the Woods. Even if you live in an urban area, putting some greenery up and our print showcasing the woods can make you feel like you’re miles from the hustle and bustle.
@lifeoncedarlane
Frost provides the perfect contrast to @lifeoncedarlane’s beautifully neutral space. Festive, yet fresh and clean. That’s a combination we always approve of!
@ourpnw_home
Winter in the Woods ties this room by @ourpnw_home together perfectly. And look at that tree!!
@halfway_wholeistic
Katie always has a beautiful Christmas mantel and this year’s was even better with Snowfall on the Farm stealing the show.
@thaodophoto
@thaodophoto dressed up this FrameTV by adding a light above it. You’d never know it was a TV. Countryside looks gorgeous on this large wall.
@thebloomingnest
We always love what @thebloomingnest designs, and this mantel is no exception. Sunrise by the Sea II looks stunning next to the natural wood textures.
@halfway_wholeistic
Low Tide is a crowd favorite and we know why! It makes Katie’s space look so calm and peaceful. Just what we need after a crazy year!
We’d love to see how Collection Prints look on your FrameTV! Use hashtag #mycollectionprint on Instagram to be featured.
]]>@collectionprints
Katie recently updated their entryway and used the Dried Floral series (Dried Floral I, Dried Floral II, Dried Floral III) to dress up the wall. This group of three is part of our Autumn Collection, but is neutral enough to last throughout the year.
Another option for a set of three is our Eucalyptus series (Eucalyptus I, Eucalyptus II, Eucalyptus III). This black and white design works in a variety of spaces. The prints can be scaled in numerous ways to fit the area you’re designing!
If you’re looking for a set of three, but don’t want a matching set, here a few examples of prints we think coordinate really well! The beauty of Collection Prints is that so many prints work together to create a cohesive look.
@studiodiydesign
@studiodiydesign used three prints from the Autumn Collection (Dried Floral I, Clay and Autumn Riverside) to style her shelves. The prints coordinate beautifully and the use of varying frames creates just enough distinction to accentuate the beauty of each of the prints.
Here’s another set of prints we love together!
A gallery wall is a great way to add color and texture to a wall without having to pick one large statement piece. That said, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out what prints to group!
@collectionprints
Katie added a photo ledge display to her sister and brother-in-law’s house. The end result was stunning and you may be surprised to see the print combination. Katie pulled from the Autumn Collection for a few pieces, but it remains a timeless look. That said, the beauty of a photo ledge is that you can choose to switch out a piece or two seasonally for an easy update!
@sarah_joy_
@sarah_joy used five Collection Prints in a recent client project. We think the art provides just enough detail while maintaining a peaceful setting! Sarah used varying mat sizes and frames to create texture.
Katie has shared the following grouping before – it’s a beauty! You could try different print sizes, frames, or mats to create a look that fits your space.
For a few examples of how to style groups of photos, see the ‘Groupings’ IG story. We hope you’ll find the inspiration you need!
We’d love to see what groupings you’ve come up with! Use hashtag #mycollectionprint on Instagram to be featured.
]]>The upcoming blog series will feature pairs and groupings of prints that we think work together beautifully - we hope you agree!
A number of our prints are designed to be styled as a pair. Certainly you can coordinate other prints with these pairs or use them as standalones, but our pairs are designed to go together, making your decision making process easier. How you design with the print pairs is up to you! We’ve seen them styled next to each other, one on top of the other or even styled with one larger than the other. There are endless options!
@collectionprints
The photo above showcases Cliff I and Cliff II, part of our Winter Collection, as styled by Katie @collectionprints. This pair coordinates well with our Winter Collection, but can also be used year round!
@studiodiydesign
@studiodiydesign stacked Sunrise by the Sea I and Sunrise by the Sea II, some of our best sellers, beautifully on this feature wall.
Many of our prints coordinate, but our seasonal collections are especially designed to work well with each other, providing you with endless styling opportunities!
@collectionprints
Reflection and Snowfall on the Farm are both prints from our Winter Collection. If you’re looking for two prints but don’t want a matching set, this is a great combo! Katie @collectionprints used different sized frames and mats to add weight.
@collectionprints
In the above photo, Katie @collectionprints used Dried Floral I and Clay from the Autumn Collection together. The colors in the prints tie together nicely, but different frames and the use of a mat with Clay provide additional contrast.
So many of our prints are not matching sets, but work so well together you’d think they were made to be paired with each other!
@linseywoods.home
@linseywoods.home beautifully styled Low Tide and Pasture by overlapping them on her gorgeous console. The colors and overall feel of the prints blend together flawlessly.
@caitlinmariedesign
@caitlinmariedesign paired Sunrise by the Sea I and Waves II in this beautiful stack! Caitlin steered away from the matching set by using Waves II rather than Sunrise by the Sea II. We think this pairing looks stunning!
@everydaygracedesigns
@everydaygracedesigns placed Sunrise by the Sea II and Low Tide in her bathroom update. The varying print sizes, frames and mats create gorgeous dimension without taking away from the beauty of the prints themselves.
@millcityworkshop
@millcityworkshop paired Textured Watercolor and Tranquil River in this bathroom design. We think an abstract print paired with a landscape style print is a great combination!
If you’re looking for a few more pairing ideas, the following may be just the inspiration you need!
Which Collection Prints do you love together? We know you have great design ideas! Use hashtag #mycollectionprint on Instagram to be featured.
]]>One style we’ve seen a lot of recently is the undersized vintage print. Sometimes scaling down is the perfect way to accent a beautiful print. @limilanhome used Vintage Vessels in the below photo. The print combined with the vintage looking pillow cover creates a subtle, yet beautiful contrast to the neutral bedding. We think Riverwalk and Country Barn would look stunning styled similarly.
@limilanhome
Neutral bedding combined with a simple wood frame and a landscape print has proven to be a winner! Neutral bedding is our go to – relaxing and welcoming – but a framed print above the bed warms up the room just enough. Anyone else feeling a nap coming on?!
Katie @collectionprints used Countryside over this perfectly white room. The green tones in the print tie in perfectly with the bedside greenery. We may be biased, but we think it’s lovely.
@whereheartresides used Sunrise by the Sea I in this gorgeous space. The textured pillows and mix of wood tones warm up the space perfectly.
@abbysbarratt used Mountain Landscape I in her guest bedroom makeover. Wouldn’t you love to be a guest at her house?!
Using your print to complement your décor accent colors is the perfect way to tie everything together without it matching too much. We love @studiodiydesign’s use of Desert Sand in this bedroom. The pillows pull the colors in the print delightfully.

Another style option is the matted frame. There’s something about white space that changes the entire look of a print – in the best way possible! Whether you choose a narrow mat or an oversized mat, adding white space allows the eye to see the print in entirely different ways!

One of our favorite ways to style prints above the bed is a long landscape print. We love how the length balances perfectly with the headboard but still gives plenty of white space above the bed. See our Long Landscape Instagram story highlights for additional information on how to print long landscape prints from our digital files.

Today I wanted to touch on pairing art prints in case you’re looking to style a few pieces together. We have a whole section of art sets for you, but here are a few guidelines I follow when pairing art!
1. Use Prints from the Same Set – Use two art pieces from the same collection, like the examples I have below.
2. Pair a Landscape and Line Drawing – Pairing a landscape print with an abstract line drawing is an easy way to ensure the pieces work together!
3. Couple a Portrait and Landscape – Portrait paintings work really well with many types of paintings.
