FROM VISION TO REALITY: CHOOSING THE RIGHT CANVAS ART

We get it! Buying art online can be hard. With so many different materials, sizes, frame finishes, etc., the entire process can be overwhelming. Today's blog post is all about making the selection process a bit easier! :)

We're focusing on one of the most asked questions we receive: What is the difference between Stretched, Mounted, and Float Frame canvas?

Let's start with the canvas itself. Our canvas prints are printed on a heavyweight canvas using wide-format inkjet printers. Known as giclee, this printing process is far superior to other forms of printing such as digital printing. The canvas is designed to create maximum color accuracy and eliminate glare caused by natural light. 

Now, let's talk about the 3 types of canvas art we offer: Stretched, Mounted, and Float Frame canvas.

Stretched Canvas - The canvas is professionally stretched over a 1 1/2”, high quality, kiln-dried poplar wood stretcher bar. With its mirrored edges, the stretched canvas is the perfect frameless look that comes ready to hang.



Mounted Canvas – Similar to our framed paper prints, the mounted canvas is attached to a 1/8” medium density fiberboard (MDF) substrate and secured in our sleek, modern frames available in four unique finishes (white, black, natural, espresso). The mounted canvas features a glassless front for the perfect, glare-free, matte look. Note: Our Mounted Canvas and Framed Paper prints use the same frame. 



Float Frame Canvas – Our stretched canvas is inserted into a sleek float frame with a 1/8” reveal between the canvas edge and the frame. This premium product is sure to make a statement in any room. The float frame features a glassless front for the perfect, glare-free, matte look.

We offer hand-crafted wood mounted frames and float frames in Gold, Black, White, Natural, and Espresso tones (select mounted canvas art is available in our Classic Gold frame). All canvas art includes:

  • Glassless front for the perfect, glare-free, matte look. 
  • Dust Cover attached to the back of the frame.
  • Hanging wire for easy installation.
